Ah yes, I remember my dissertation committee.
Come to think of it though, I remember more the eyebrows and less the nodding.
Preparing an article for submission, but I need my co-author to get back to me with his/her additions:

And of course each pecking email starts with, “I know you are really busy, but…” That makes it all better.
After the students are gone, this is what the first week of summer is like
(I promise, the words were already on there.)

So I have a new prep in the fall...
When the faculty see particularly hungover students at graduation
Professor, I realize I missed class all last week...
“…but I got the notes. They say lick fingers, turn page. Why are you saying I’m doing it wrong?”
Because you are.
"So class, today we'll be doing teaching evaluations. If you could get out a pencil..."

And this is how faculty feel at the end of the term.
At the end of the term, the students are like:
Teaching Evaluations: The professor was ridiculous and went the whole hour and a half each day.
Teaching Evaluations: The tests were too hard and didn't test what I knew.
Teaching Evaluations: This is one of the best professors at this school.
When somebody says, "Don't go outside the chain of command."
